IR sensor in TV not working? I was given a very nice Samsung TV the other day. Came with the factory remote as well as a universal MX-780 remote I can’t get the remotes to work with the tv. I have done the following: Factory reset tv Factory reset both remotes Confirmed new batteries in remotes and the sensor to be working on both remotes.
· If you have good soldering skills you can remove the IR sensor from this board and replace the sensor on the correct board (3642-0072-0189). It is best to cut the leads of the defective part and pull them out while heating with the soldering iron. Do not cut the leads of the new sensor but it must be removed from the replacement board.
Yesterday when I tried powering on my Vizio 42" LCD nothing worked, I tried everything but still nothing, finaly I got right up to the IR senor and it works! Move more then 2 inches away and it doesnt. Tried 2 Universal remotes as well as the regular Vizio TV remote, all do the same thing, I have to get right up to it in order for it to work.

Make sure there is nothing in front of the infrared (IR) sensor on the TV that may be blocking the signal from the remote control. Make sure you are pointing the remote control towards the IR sensor.
